I think this was amazing. You pretty much got it down. I'd say a lot of the confusion between the two is because people aren't completely honest when being diagnosed. There is a book called Madness by Marya Hornbacher and it's about her life being bipolar 1. She holds nothing back in. It's one of my favorite books of all time. You should definitely read it. :)

The difference between Bipolar I and Pipolar II is the depth of the mania, Bipolar II has deeper depression and lesser manic swings where bipolar I has massive swings into both which is why people with Bipolar II are more frequently diagnosed as having severe depression and it is thought that their manic episodes are instances of anxiety resulting from their depressive symptoms. I speak from experience as someone with Bipolar II and a degree in Human Development which is a step from a Psych degree so I've had a lot of time with the DSMIV manual to study my diagnosis and come to understand it.

My father was Bipolar I, the anger is a manifestation of the manic phase in which the individual does not understand where the excess energy comes from and more often than not it does manifest as aggrivation, frustration and anger. You are not entirely off the mark but it is not quite so cut and dried, there are well controlled Bipolar I people and poorly controlled Bipolar IIs. It is a sorely misunderstood disorder and so often misdiagnosed because depression is so much more common and easier to see and the mania can be disguised, mistaken for other things.
